The questions people ask before they reach out.
Plain answers, no jargon. If your question isn't here, ask it the easy way — a text, a call, or the contact form. That counts as reaching out, and it's free.
What actually happens in a first session?
Before anything else, we do a short free consult — a quick call so you can get a feel for me and ask whatever you want. If it feels right, we book a first session. That session is a conversation, not an interrogation: you tell me what's going on in whatever order it comes out, I ask questions, and together we start making sense of it. No couch, no clipboard silence, no being analyzed from across the room.
I just want regular talk therapy. Is that what you do?
Yes — that's most of what I do. The majority of my clients come in for exactly that: a steady, honest conversation with someone trained to help. I'm also trained in LENS neurofeedback and Brainspotting, but those are tools I bring in only when they genuinely fit what you're working on — plenty of clients never use them, and I'll never push them on you.
Do you take insurance?
In-network with several major plans through Headway, including Aetna, Cigna, Carelon, and UnitedHealthcare (Oscar, Oxford, Optum). A superbill is available on request for out-of-network reimbursement. Major cards, HSA and FSA work too. If cost is the thing holding you back, say so on the consult — I'd rather have an honest conversation about it than have you talk yourself out of reaching out.
How much do sessions cost?
Individual or couples sessions are $200. The initial consult is always free, with no commitment. Reduced rates for first responders, educators, veterans, healthcare workers, and fellow therapists. The full picture — including LENS rates and packages — is on the fees page.
Online or in person?
Both. The office is in Spring–Klein, at the entrance to Gleannloch Farms — an easy drive from Tomball, Klein, Cypress, and Champions. If you'd rather meet from your couch than mine, online sessions are available anywhere in Texas.
Do you work with teens?
For talk therapy, ages 13 and up — teens get the same grounded, non-judgmental space adults do, and I'm careful to build trust with the teen while keeping parents appropriately in the loop. If your child is younger than 13, reach out anyway: LENS neurofeedback isn't age-limited, so we can talk through whether it's a good fit. And if you're a parent wondering whether your kid would actually talk to me, that first consult is a low-stakes way to find out.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you say in session stays in session, with the standard legal exceptions every licensed counselor carries — situations involving safety. I'll walk you through exactly what that means before we start, so there are no surprises.
I'm a person of faith — or I'm not. Does that matter here?
You're welcome either way, and you set the terms. Some clients want to bring their faith into the room, and I'll go there with you. Many of my clients aren't religious at all, and that's completely fine too — you won't get an agenda from me in either direction. My job is to meet you where you are.
What are LENS and Brainspotting, in one breath each?
LENS is a gentle, drug-free neurofeedback method that helps an over-activated nervous system settle — sessions are short and passive. Brainspotting is a focused, body-aware approach for trauma and patterns that don't budge with talk alone. Both have their own pages if you're curious — and neither is required to work with me.
How do I start?
Send a quick message through the contact page or call or text (281) 826-9232. Tell me a little about what's going on — no detail required — and we'll set up a free consult. Reaching out is the hardest step; it gets easier from there.
Still wondering about something?
That's what the free consult is for — every question welcome, zero pressure.
